Work Zone Bulletins
Work Zone Bulletins clarify, supplement or modify standards in the Department's 2008 Traffic Accommodation in Work Zones Manual. The intent of these bulletins is to improve safety by presenting new traffic control devices, measures and strategies for work zones. As some new traffic control devices add a higher cost to the traffic accommodation strategy, they may need to be included in the contract's special provisions.

Some bulletins, as indicated in the table, are being introduced as trials. Project Sponsors may choose to use trial traffic control device(s) or measure(s) on a project that meets the criteria in the bulletin. When a trial traffic control device is used on a project, an evaluation form (link below) should be filled out. Details outlined in the bulletins may be changed in the future based on feedback from the evaluation forms.
Alberta Transportation's "Product List" should be consulted when selecting some categories of work zone traffic control devices.
Alberta Transportation's "Recommended Practices" provide guidance on highway signs and other operational characteristics. They are referenced by several work zone standards.
