Climate Change & Air Quality
Alberta Infrastructure/Transportation takes an active role in environmental issues related to air emissions. Both greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air quality pollutants generated from the transportation sector are priority areas for the Ministry, and are co-managed with Alberta Environment and organizations like the Clean Air Strategic Alliance and Climate Change Central. Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation is also involved in the mitigation of GHG emissions through facilitating a comprehensive energy efficiency program directed at government buildings, and through wind power contracts for government electricity demand.
